Picture this:
Its a lazzzzy, booooring saturday.. I thought why not read blogs randomly.. Google search on a particular keyword brings me to A’s blog. I read a few posts and I like them.Wow.. A seems to be someone who matches my taste. I decide to post a comment on one of the posts. I find there, among others B’s comment. Would it hurt to take a look at B’s blog.. Naaah… Ok.. Click..
Hmmm… B’s blog is good too… I like the style, the flow, the choice of words… Great.. Ok.. Time to drop a comment… Done.. Wait a minute.. How about some blog hopping?? There.. I spot a C among comments. Jump to C’s blog…
Whoa… C is younger than me… And look at the way C writes.. Maturity screaming out of each post.. Is that maturity or just a facade of it , which seems to be a fad??? Either way… I definitely like this blog… I should learn a thing or two from C when it comes to clean writng.. Hmmm.. Seri.. Enough of blogs… Let me do some Orkut Prowling…
Here I am.. On my home page in Orkut… Heyy… Its D’s birthday today.. Gotta wish D… I go to D’s profile.. The right pane showing the friends who were recently online catches my eye… I spot a person who’s name is same as C… Can it really be C… I visit the profile.. This person is a member of a community which C might be too. So.. Can’t there be 2 people with the same name?? Oh wait.. This is C.. No doubt there… How did I find that out… Sssshhhh…
Whoa… Now this is some news… Nope.. I ain’t done yet… One search through C’s friends.. I’ve spotted B’s Orkut profile too…
Reading blogs of people whom you’ve never met is one thing.. Stumbling on their profiles on Orkut is a totally different thing… I decided it was time to stop… Its not nice to dwell on profiles of people whom you don’t know personally…Atleast that what I’d like to practise. So.. Scoot…
Some days later.. I revisit C’s blog.. And from there.. hop to E’s blog… One particular post catches the eye.. And there it is.. E’s Orkut profile… Holy Cow!!!! E knows F.. A not-so-nice person whom I happen to know… This is getting heady….. Scoot Scoot….
When I sat back an reflected on it, I realised how easy it is to say things like “Small World .. Its a global village et all… ” and how different it is to actually experience it.. I was shocked.. Amused.. Surprised …
The 6 degrees of separation thingy finally made sense…
PS: I found A’s profile on Orkut too. Though G who is a close friend..
Update: H falls in the best friend category.. and H knows A too… :O
